Silicone structural sealants are more and more widely used in construction. Most of the silicone structural sealants are named according to the application part, and the corresponding product should be selected according to the part when using it. There are mechanical requirements, and structural glue is needed to withstand the force; while the sealant must play a sealing role, mainly air-tight, water-tight, etc., and does not need to withstand the force. To put it simply, the structural glue is stressed, and the sealant plays a sealing role. Therefore, structural adhesive can replace sealant under certain conditions, but sealant can never replace structural adhesive.

　　One, the structural assembly position. The sealant used between the curtain wall panel (the term "panel" is provided by the industry encyclopedia) and its supporting structure needs to bear a variety of loads and ensure long-term adhesion. It is not allowed to fall off. It must meet the national mandatory standard "Building Use silicone structural sealant" (GB16776) requirements. Especially in high-rise and super high-rise (the term "super high-rise" is provided by Industry Encyclopedia) curtain walls, large grid glass curtain walls, curtain walls using laminated insulating glass, curtain walls in earthquake-resistant 9-degree fortified areas, and even in these situations When the combination of high-performance silicone structural sealant is more necessary. The tensile strength and elongation at break of this glue are very high, and the same bonding width can withstand greater loads.

　　2. The joints of the architectural curtain panels. The expansion joint between the building curtain wall panel and the panel needs to be filled with glue. In this case, silicone weather-resistant sealant should be used. It needs to withstand the displacement caused by wind load, dynamic load, and deformation caused by the thermal expansion and contraction of the substrate. Under tension or compression, the cohesiveness will not be destroyed, and it also has a good elastic recovery rate. 　　3. Stone panel parts. Stone panel parts must use special (the entry "door" is provided by the industry encyclopedia) stone silicone sealant. Because stone itself is a kind of porous material, it is easy to be polluted, and it is difficult to remove after pollution. The general sealant contains non-reactive low-molecular substances such as plasticizers, which will migrate from the inside of the glue to the inside of the stone, causing oil stains and dust absorption on the surface of the stone, causing stone pollution. This glue is divided into two categories. One is the glue for stone joints, which is used to seal the joints between the stone slabs. The second is glue for dry hanging stone, which is used for bonding between stone and metal hook. In the past, rigid epoxy resin-based stone dry-hanging adhesives were commonly used. When the building is shaken, stress is also transmitted to the stone panel, and the stone is easily cracked.

　　Fourth, the top position of daylighting. Due to its own weight load, snow load, wind load, asymmetric load, and thermal expansion and contraction of the material, the solar roof has large and complex displacements, not only horizontal displacement, but also shear displacement. Especially when using polycarbonate sheet, due to its high coefficient of thermal expansion and contraction, it is six or seven times that of glass. This requires the sealant to have low modulus, high displacement ability, good material compliance, and free expansion and contraction. It is best to use 50LM (50 low modulus) silicone sealant. Its displacement capacity is plus or minus 50%. Glue for lighting roof also requires good transparency and beautiful appearance.

In the past, it was filled with polyacrylate, neoprene, polyurethane, etc., or the bond was easily broken after being exposed to external force, or harmful gas was volatilized. Silicone sealant has no such drawbacks and can play a long-term sealing and waterproof role.
