One-component silicone sealant is the main agent and curing agent together, and it is cured by contact with moisture in the air. It is highly dependent on air humidity. During curing, it gradually cures from the surface to the inside, and the curing depth is limited to 6mm. Too thick glue layer is difficult to solidify in the deep part; two-component glue is divided into two parts AB, which need to be proportioned when used. When curing, the inside and outside are solidified at the same time, which can be used for thicker glue.
Under what circumstances should one-component silicone sealant be used, and vice versa?
Silicone sealant is generally single-component, and it is also convenient to operate a single piece. Our exterior wall aluminum panels and insulating glass use this kind. There are many structural adhesives that use two components, such as the hollow glass sub-frame, the glue and the curing agent are injected in proportion, the curing is fast, and the speed can be adjusted.
02
When the two-component silicone sealant AB group is mixed, what is it that reacts and cures?
The principle is the same as the one-component reaction of silicone glue with water, one is water in the air and the other is water in the curing agent. Using organosilanes with hydrolyzable groups as crosslinking agents, under the action of catalysts such as tin compounds or titanium compounds, they condense with the hydroxyl end of the base rubber dihydroxy polydimethylsiloxane to form acetoxime groups, which are combined with The trace moisture in the curing agent is hydrolyzed into silanol groups, and the silanol groups and acetoxime groups are then condensed to finally form a network structure.
03
Which two-component silicone sealant or one-component silicone sealant dries quickly?
uncertain.
Because the single-component is a stable ratio, it is generally cured on the surface for 20 minutes at room temperature, and the total curing time is specified to be 12 hours before being used on the wall.
If the two-component ratio is correct, the curing time is about the same as the one-component curing time; if the ratio is incorrect, there is too much curing agent, then the curing time will be very fast.
04
What is the difference between one-component and two-component silicone glue?
Most of the single-component packaging is supported, and the capacity is limited, so it is more convenient to use on the construction site; the two-components are all in barrels, and most of the glass processing plants are fully automatic equipment for continuous production, and The curing needs to be fast and efficient, and there are also two-component structural adhesives that are directly used on the construction site, but the operation is not very convenient. The main reason is that the one-component curing is slow and easy to operate, and the two-component curing is more troublesome when used on the construction site.
05
The difference between one-component silicone sealant and two-component silicone sealant: 1. Why is it named one-component and two-component; 2. The difference in physical and chemical properties.
One-component/two-component, is for its curing agent;
One-component: that is, it does not need to add another curing agent to cure by itself;
Two-component: The glue is composed of AB components, A group is silicone rubber (white), and B group is curing agent (black). If the curing and bonding effect cannot be achieved by using group A alone, it must be used in combination with AB. The normal ratio is 7:1, that is, 7 parts of group A and one part of group B are used. The AB component must be mixed well before use, otherwise the effect will not reach the desired effect. In addition, there is basically no difference in physical properties and chemical properties. They are all silicone sealants, and their functions are similar or similar.
